Kick-Start Your Wellness With Little Or No Money
In the age of social media it is easy to become bombarded with ideas on how to improve your wellness. It all starts to add up very quickly - a natural therapies appointment here, all organic produce there and a starter kit of essential oils just to sprinkle on top. If you are like me you may save to buy things like a water filter only to find out that it is actually healthier to drink spring water (ouch).
It makes perfect sense that the healthier you are, the more energy and clarity you have and the more likely it is you can make more money. But perhaps your wellness is not at a point where you can make a lot of money, and you simply do not have the budget to buy the stylish health products you see flaunted on Instagram.
Well, I am here to tell you there are some very basic things that can greatly improve your health that cost little or no money. Once you get the basics down, you have built a foundation to be in a position where you can go off to chase your dreams, and potentially make lots of money in the process. THEN you can participate in that organic juice cleanse and attend that wellness retreat and do all of the great things for your health that money can buy.
Here are my tips to kick start your wellness...
1. Start your day with lemon water. I would love to say to you drinking more water will improve your health (and it will) but I will say instead build your way up to more water by drinking a glass of lemon water upon rising for a week. See if it aids your digestion, helps you feel more hydrated and keeps you fuller during the day. Money tip: I use the bottled lemon juice so I don't have to buy fresh lemons all of the time.
2. Go for a walk. Boring right? Not really. You don't need a gym membership or any fancy equipment., it doesn't matter what time of day it is (ideally getting some sunshine would be good though) and it doesn't matter how long you go for. Building the habit of walking is free free free and will help ease anxiety, build independence and is great for your body. Money tip: The only thing you may need is walking shoes. Kmart has well priced ones or even check out a second hand store.
3. Make YouTube your friend. There is ENDLESS information on YouTube. My favorite channels are "Yoga with Adrienne" and "Tapping with Brad Yates". If you need a mood booster, look up proposal videos (not fails) and train sing-a-longs. Money tip: If you do not have the internet at home, take some ear phones to your local library and get your Tube on.
4. Buy bulk coconut oil. Yes baby! Coconut oil can be used for cooking, beard oil, hair oil, shaving cream, moisturiser, lip balm, oil-pulling, as butter, as a boost in your smoothie and just so much more.
5. Change your mindset. You, of course, know your budget so I am not here to tell you what you can and cannot afford. I am here to tell you to switch off that lack mindset. While you are making ends meet it is, of course, handy to find bargains and life-hacks, but please know, you are WORTH the money. Your health is WORTH all of the money in the world. Personally, my positive relationship with money is still a process but I have come a long way from buying the almost rotten fruit and veg from the bargain bin and pinching toilet paper from my local library (yup, at one point I actually thought I had to do that to get by). Try some positive money affirmations and EFT videos and see if you can clear up some of those limiting money thoughts.
