Online Experiences to Enjoy in Melbourne During Lock Down

Shalee Moschetti from The Thought Chapter explore online experiences to enjoy during stage 4 lockdown in Melbourne.jpg

Despite what your feeling may be about our government and the handling of the COVID crisis right now, the reality is that we here in Melbourne and Victoria are in lock down for a little while longer and we have to get our heads in the game. It is up to us to make sure that we are not only getting through this time but, dare I say it, enjoy this time too.

While we are missing our loved ones, worried about our finances, and hurting for those who have lost their lives, it is important to take note of all of the wonderful things too. So without further ado, here are some online experiences I have enjoyed during lock down thus far and I hope they spark inspiration for you and perhaps becomes things that you can implement and enjoy too. Lots of love, Shalee xo

DARKFIELD RADIO

The Thought Chapter with Shalee Rae Moschetti x Darkfield Radio

DARKFIELD RADIO is a new digital project that distills DARKFIELD’s signature audio experiences into an intense and communal at-home encounter. Introducing DARKFIELD RADIO and the first show DOUBLE. As with all DARKFIELD experiences, a strange world is built from 360 degree binaural sound that perplexes the senses, deepening the immersion by casting doubt on what is real and what is imagined. For the first show, all you need is a mobile device, headphones - and a friend...

Audiences will be instructed to sit opposite each other on either side of a kitchen table. Pairs of participants will be replicated in hundreds of rooms across Australia, listening to a simultaneous broadcast over 20 minutes. There is only one rule: everyone has to be who they say they are. DOUBLE is a troubling exercise in familiarity that explores the Capgras delusion, a condition in which the sufferer is convinced that a loved one has been replaced by an exact replica with malign intentions.

I did this with my partner G and we felt like two giggling school girls before they go to their mirror at midnight to repeat “bloody mary”. It was a bit of fun and it is widely affordable. I cannot wait to see what they bring out next. And I think I am going to invest in a good pair of headphones just for the occasion :P

ONLINE CONCERTS WITH SAM SAM BUT DIFFERENT

The Thought Chapter x Sam Sam But Different

Every Friday and Saturday night, the band Sam Sam but Different have been streaming live music on their Facebook page and YouTube channel. They play good old fashioned pub tunes and G and I like to pretend we are sitting at a bar and sing along even though we are just sitting in our lounge room.

GET A SELFIE WITH A PIZZA BIB

The Thought Chapter by Shalee Rae x Pizza Bib

While we currently cannot leave the home at night, we are able to order in. And is pizza the perfect lock down treat for a Saturday night? Well I’d certainly like to think so. Better yet, you can order a pizza from somewhere like Rossini’s Pizza who have cleverly invested in Pizza Bib boxes which allow you to get a fun selfie at the same time. We sent our silly photo to all of our friends and fam and we all had a good laugh which is ever so important while stuck in our homes. Also check out Pizza Bib on Instagram and their hashtag #pizzabib to see other hilarious photos.

ORDER SOMETHING INSTAGRAMABLE

While we are on the topic of ordering in, why not order something that will make your friends ooh and ahh on Instagram? Not only is this a great way to support local businesses during this time but it can be a whole lot of fun doing some research in order to find something you have never tried before. Last weekend G and I enjoyed these sweets from Son in Law Melbourne and they were a whole lot of fun (especially ripping their little heads off to eat hehe).

ENJOY ONLINE TRIVIA NIGHTS

After we wrap up our online concert with Sam Sam but Different, G and I have been jumping on Face time with his Dad and bonus mum to enjoy some live Trivia. City Quest Australia who usually sell their city puzzle walks (and I can confirm they are a whole lot of fun) are now running live trivia on their YouTube channel every Saturday night at 8pm. Not only has this helped fill our Saturday evenings but it has also kept our brains ticking while having a whole lot of fun.

Are you going to give any of these online experiences a go? Or have you enjoyed something else in lock that you’d love to share? Let us know in the comments below. Until next time, stay safe and choose your thoughts wisely. Shalee xo
