Exploring the World Differently with Randonauting
Have you ever had that suspicious feeling after you have searched for something on Google only to find that an ad pops up for that exact same thing in your Instagram account? Perhaps you watched a trailer for a movie on YouTube only to find that the app later prompts you to purchase or hire that movie through them. And with so many gentle nudges into certain directions, it can start to pose the question of how in control of our realities we really are.
If you knew how to do the maths, you could calculate the probability of you ending up exactly where you are in life right now and no matter how much you feel like you made your own choices along the way, you are likely very predictable. Now, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing because as humans with hundreds of thousands of years of history behind us, it only makes sense that we would be repeating certain patterns. But with the rise of technology, it is becoming apparent that we are ever more predictable than we once thought, or perhaps, we are more malleable than we once thought (some even believe that we are living in a simulation).
And many of us have that sinking feeling like we aren’t really doing the things that we want to do. Perhaps that our path is already laid out in front of us in the form of getting married, having kids, improving our credit score, and getting car loans. But what if there was a way to break out of the mould, even just for a short period of time?
And this is where randonauting comes into play. For most people, they will get the idea to visit a certain place from a post they have seen on Instagram but with randonauting, the idea is that people will be visiting a place based on truly random coordinates as well as their intention. And this is able to be achieved with a Quantum Numbers Server in Australia that produces random numbers for free.
The Randonautica app has then taken these numbers and used them as coordinates. When using the app, you are also able to set your parameter so that you are not sent anywhere too far away. Then all you have to do is set your intention about what you want to find e.g. nature, and then you can generate your coordinates.
When doing this, you are able to pick a few different options and I am not entirely sure what they mean, I believe they are in regards to how likely it is that the coordinates exist (I will pop some YouTube videos from the app below for those wanting to learn more). But my partner G and I set out one afternoon with our random coordinates and some of the results were mundane and then others were amazing.
For many, we were sent to people’s houses or locked buildings and so, of course, we were not able to enter the exact location. But we did still get out of the car and walk around random streets and found ourselves keeping an extra eye out for the things that we had set as an intention e.g. something yellow, allowing us to mindfully take in our surroundings like we never have before. One of our favourite finds was an overgrown path behind the freeway that you could walk down, and we spent a good hour exploring this magical path of sorts that nobody else was walking on.
For our last find, I set the intention for something spooky and I kid you not, we were directly sent to a funeral home. Is this showing that our intentions influence our surroundings or is it just a coincidence? Perhaps, but it still pretty cool. Now whenever we drive into a new suburb, we can whip out app and quickly explore somewhere new on the way home. There are so many things we have come across like little shops or streets or parks that we didn’t know existed before and it gives me the overwhelming feeling that the possibilities in life are never ending.
