Self-distancing with Ease and Grace

Author Shalee Rae from The Thought Chapter talks about COVID and self distancing with ease and grace

Hiya friends! It is that weird time again where everything is upside down and everyone is feeling confused and afraid. Will I be okay? Will my elderly relatives be okay? When will things go back to normal? Will I run out of money? All of these questions and more are running through our minds and it can be really hard not to panic.

But like anything in life, a little bit of concern is helpful, but a lot of concern is not. While it is a good idea to stay home as much as possible in an attempt to reduce the severity of the virus, this doesn’t mean that people have to panic while doing so. And so, in an attempt to help you feel a little calmer and to work through this period of self-distancing with ease and grace, here are some quick tips and tricks…

  • Check out the ease and grace playlist I made on YouTube in the free resources section of my site. It includes breathing videos, hypnotherapy videos, feel good videos, tapping, and more. I encourage you to make your own playlist too!

  • Don’t bother shopping at Woolworths or Coles. The good news is that there are plenty of other shops out there that are not sold out of stuff such as Costco (they are stocking new bags of rice every day), your local vegetable and fruit grocers, Tasman’s Meats, your butcher, IGA, Aldi, and Asian grocery stores. You can still get lots of great supps and medications from Chemist Warehouse and some will still be selling hand sanitiser from behind the prescription counter.

  • If you must go to the main grocery stores, avoid going in the morning so that the elderly and disabled are able to get in there first.

  • Make your own hand sanitiser out of teatree oil and aloe gel.

  • Sign up for a toilet paper subscription with Pure Planet and get one for your grandparents too.

  • Ask people around you not to talk about it anymore if it is giving you anxiety.

  • Only check the stats once a day and from a reputable source.

  • Ask your boss to work from home if you don’t feel comfortable.

  • Order some zinc, olive leaf extract, and whatever else you need to feel safe online.

  • Make a meal plan and a daily plan of activities if you have kids.

  • Remember that people act out when they are afraid so please try to have some compassion.
