The Struggles Of A 20-Something Year Old

My boyfriend and I recently spent our Sunday afternoon going over our goals (yet again) and brainstorming on how we can make our lives better. The same things tend to come up for us over and over again - not enough money, no friends, wanting to be healthier and wanting more time and freedom in our lives. My boyfriend jokingly said that we need to make a YouTube channel about the struggles of being a 20 something yr. old because everyone would relate to it. This of course lead me to this post. These are the following things I find that every 20 something yr. old goes through...

You feel like your life is over - A bit melodramatic maybe but I KNOW other people feel this way too. I think as a teenager we imagine what we will be like in our twenties. I thought I would have traveled the world, that I would be a famous movie star and would be settling down to have kids and get married. The truth is at 26 years old I feel like my life is only beginning. I am only just starting to really know and trust myself. Just starting my life when I can quite easily round up my age to 30 is an odd thought. Can anyone else relate?

You start to realise that your health is the NUMBER ONE most important thing in your life - The things I did to my body as a teenager would horrify you. I didn't connect my health to how I feel and the things I can achieve until I was around 23. Almost everyone I know in their twenties has had some sort of surgery or operation and constantly complains that they are "getting old". Imagine how we are going to feel in our fifties if we don't take care of ourselves now.

You only just realise how freaken awesome avocados are - seriously avocados! Where have you been my whole life? I can put you in salad, make dressing out of you or even mix you with cacao to make delicious, choccy mousse.

You have finally figured out what you want (maybe) but you don't have the funds to get it - You KNOW in your heart that you want that house next to the ocean, or to start your own business selling home-made cushions. But you need money for all of that. Money that you are usually throwing at the mistakes of the past (parking tickets anyone?).

Even though you have stuffed up more ways than you can count, you would do it all again in a heartbeat - The past can be a real bummer but you KNOW that you are your most awesome self because of it. After all you are here reading this blog :)

Until next time, Shalee xo
