Earthlette Pit Paste
Howdie! Today I am coming to you with a post all about pits. Yup! Armpits! Nobody wants smelly armpits but I think most of us are aware that mainstream deodorants are full of nasties. After trying a few different things such as a disastrous home-made concoction, I now find myself trying Earthlette’s Pit Paste. This paste is a 100% natural and vegan option that you gently rub into your armpits.
FUN FACTS
Antiperspirants stop the body from sweating whereas deodorant masks the odours. This is ideal as it is important for the body to perspire as it helps with temperature regulation and balancing salt levels.
Sweat doesn’t actually smell. It is the bacteria on the skin that interacts with the fats and proteins in sweat that smells.
Pit Paste works by reducing the amount of bacteria on your skin with its natural ingredients. Instead of blocking sweat glands, it simply neutralises odours.
Because this product is completely natural it is affected by outside temperatures (kind of like coconut oil). If need be though, when it is hot you can pop it in the fridge and when it is cold you can run the case under warm water.
Antiperspirants contain potentially harmful ingredients such as aluminium and parabens.
HOW DOES IT SMELL?
It smells tangy and refreshing! It has a strong citrus scent but it isn’t overpowering (although my cat was very alarmed when she smelt it ha-ha).
WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?
Coconut oil, shea butter, bicarb soda, white clay powder, arrowroot (tapioca) flour, essential oils (rose geranium, grapefruit, lime, wild cypress + lavender) + vitamin E oil.
MY FAVOURITE PARTS...
Aside from the peace of mind that I get from knowing that this is a product that is purely plant-based, natural and not tested on animals, I enjoy the packaging. It has a well-functioning lid so I can pop it in my handbag and not worry that it will spill everywhere. I know I have mentioned the smell before but I also love the scent! After using a non-scented deodorant for so long, I am very happy to add some new smells into my life.
I am actually very sensitive to smells and slightly allergic to essential oils, however, the dosages must be just right as I don’t get any irritation from the product. I haven’t tried exercising with it yet, but so far, I have only needed to put it on once a day. It also works right away and doesn’t stain my clothes. Back when I used to use mainstream options I would constantly be ruining my clothes with white stains.
Thankfully this option doesn’t do that! My most favourite part is that I surprisingly feel more confident when I put it on. I know this sounds so weird but knowing that I am not only getting rid of any bad smells but also choosing an ethical product that smells great really makes me feel happy. I feel like I am pampering myself in fact.
WHY VEGAN IS IMPORTANT
For those who do not know, animals (mostly rabbits) are quite often used to test beauty products on. They go through very traumatic things just for the sake of our beauty. This simply doesn’t sit right with me and I feel very empowered when I find companies that are ensuring that their products are not tested on unwilling animals.
If you’re like me and are always on the hunt for natural products, I'd love to hear from you in the comments below.
