A Guide To Conscious Living
Before I lived a conscious life I was not in tune with myself at all. I partied my emotions away, dabbled in unhealthy relationships, rode my car into the ground, threw all my money away + treated my possessions like trash. Needless to say my life wasn't the greatest because I wasn't showing up for it.
When I began my healing journey I realised that health + conscious living goes hand in hand. I had to learn to sit with my emotions rather than bury them. I began to set boundaries when someone was treating me badly + I learned to respect my money (because money is what I receive for my precious time after all).
Once the fog from my party days began to lift I found myself becoming passionate about things again. About music, about people, about health + about the planet. The more I became informed + the more I changed my habits, the happier I became. So today I would love to share with you, a quick guide to conscious living.
Be conscious of waste: Some great ways I reduce the amount of waste I am using is by replacing my shopping bags with tote bags, replacing plastic bags (for pet poo pick ups) with biodegradable ones, recycle the best I can, take unwanted possessions to a charity shop + buy things with the least amount of packaging as possible (attending a farmers market is a great way to do this). I also keep jars to store my beauty products in, drink out of + store teas or herbs + get tree-free toilet paper delivered from Pure-Planet. A great initiative to introduce into your home is Plastic-free Tuesday, you may suprise yourself with how hard this can be.
Be conscious of where you shop: Where is your clothing coming from? A great documentary that opened my eyes to the conditions of sweatshop factories is 'The True Cost'. It was so easy for me to fill my home + wardrobe with products from Kmart, but what is the real cost of this? Is a $3.00 shirt worth someones life? Certainly not. A fantastic website that lists ethical clothing brands in Australia is http://ethicalclothingaustralia.org.au/
Be conscious of the animals: As a retired vegan I had to figure out a way to include animal products in my diet while still feeling in alignment with my values. I found I could do this by staying educating by regularly visiting Animals Australia, purchasing organic, free-range eggs, purchasing meat from local farmers markets + speaking to the farmer about how they raise their animals, when shopping at the supermarket - buying brands like Cleavers who are a very conscious company, + finally buying off cuts from the butcher to feed my pets or make bone broth. This way none of the animal has gone to waste. A great initiative is introducing Meatless Monday into your home + having 1 whole day of plant-based food.
Be conscious of ourselves: Have you ever walked into a room + could sense that the people in it had been fighting? Similarly, have you ever been around someone that is so positive that their mood is simply infections? This is because we are all made up of vibrating energy + that energy can be vibrating at a low frequency or a high frequency. Do yourself + the people around you (+ so the world) a favour by raising your frequency. Some great ways to do this is by drinking plenty of water, changing your position (movement/motion), boogie down to a dance party playlist, laugh out loud, practice gratitude + repeat positive thoughts.
